Body found in vehicle trunk in Simpson County identified

SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - The name of the person found dead in the trunk of a car in Simpson County has been released, and authorities need help finding out how and why it happened.

According to Simpson County Sheriff Paul Mullins, the victim is 25-year-old Gramico Womack Jr.

On Tuesday at around 6:30 a.m., a passerby notified authorities of a 2025 white Nissan Sentra parked with the engine running on Goshen Road near Highway 541 North.

Investigators found blood on the vehicle and discovered Womack shot in the trunk.

“I would say it is an isolated incident between certain people that are beefing over something. I would say it’s not a random shooting. It is targeted shootings,” said Sheriff Mullins. “We’re working diligently to run down anything we can get, but we have to have people’s help with this because somebody saw something. Somebody knows something, and if they have something they need to let us know so we can put these people, hold them accountable for this heinous act.”
