Hattiesburg names Harold Robert Hall 2026 Veteran of the Year
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The city of Hattiesburg has named Chief Warrant Officer 4 Harold Robert Hall, a retired Mississippi Army National Guard member, its 2026 Veteran of the Year.
The city is recognizing Hall for decades of military service and his continued commitment to the community.
Hall served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, including during the 1968 Tet Offensive. He later spent 32 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
Hall continues to serve by helping organize local veterans events, supporting families in need and teaching young students about the American flag.
“Very surprised, very honored, very humbled. I mean, not everybody gets it, and I’m not a person that usually expects the gratitude like that. Hattiesburg is a very strong veteran community. We have Camp Shelby, which I was there for 32 years. Hattiesburg has been very supportive for the military. And I mean, it’s evident in our Memorial Day and our Veterans Day programs,” Hall said.
The city invites the community to its annual Veterans Day celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The city will host a parade followed by a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park.
