Lucedale man faces 6 charges in child sexual abuse investigation
GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) — A Lucedale man is facing six charges following a sexual abuse investigation involving multiple children, according to the George County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said a report came in on Oct. 6 about alleged sexual abuse of several children living in George County.
An investigation led deputies to identify 59-year-old Harry Cotrell as a suspect.
Warrants were issued for his arrest, and Cotrell was located and arrested hours later in Southaven with assistance from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, according to Mixon.
“Protecting children and holding those who prey on them accountable remains a priority for our agency,” Mixon said. “Our investigators worked diligently to pursue this case, and we appreciate the assistance of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office in helping bring this investigation to this stage. We take allegations involving the safety and well-being of children extremely seriously and remain committed to seeking justice for victims.”
Cotrell is charged with one count of sexual battery, one count of grooming, and four counts of touching of a child for lustful purposes.
Cotrell is now awaiting an initial appearance before a George County Justice Court judge.
