Man killed in overnight shooting at Jackson gas station

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A man was killed in a shooting at a Jackson gas station late Friday night, according to Capitol Police.

At approximately 10:53 p.m. on Saturday, Capitol Police officers responded to a call regarding a shooting near Bailey Avenue and Fortification Street.

The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. at Bailey Fuel Express at the intersection of Bailey Avenue and Fortification Street.

Upon arrival, officers found one person dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Hinds County Coroner Jeremiah Howard confirmed one man was shot and killed.

Police said two other people were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported an argument started between some individuals before gunfire erupted.

Police said the person who was killed was involved in the argument, while the two people who were injured were not involved but tried to intervene and calm the situation.

No arrests have been made. Capitol Police is handling the investigation and said detectives are actively gathering information and evidence.
