The mass adoption was organized by the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, as well as Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth. Families traveled from as far as Jackson to adopt.

The Petal Police Department was anonymously given $250 to spread holiday cheer. Following the donor’s wishes, they split it up between five different people.
The night ended with the lighting of a Christmas tree at the front of campus.
