H'burg council outlaws yard parking

The Hattiesburg City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday night that may impact where you park your car on your own property.

By a vote of 4 to 1, the council passed an ordinance prohibiting parking and storage in the front and side yards of both single- and two-family residential zoning districts.

One key exception is that if the property is residentially zoned and does not already have a driveway or improved area, the property owner can apply for a parking permit.

And people with disabilities are exempt if their vehicle properly displays a handicap license plate or placard.
