USM quarterback Kwadra Griggs suspended indefinitely

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - USM announced Saturday morning that senior quarterback Kwadra Griggs has been suspended indefinitely "pending the resolution of a student conduct matter."

The press release did not go into any detail about Grigg's suspension.

Griggs battled a lower leg injury that kept him sidelined throughout the spring.

During the 2017 season, Griggs missed four games dealing with a hand injury. He completed over 55 percent of his passes, threw for 1,879 yards, 16 touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The Golden Eagles lost sophomore quarterback Keon Howard this summer after he transferred to Tulane.

Heading into fall camp, Griggs and sophomore transfer Jack Abraham was competing for the starting job. Abraham, who will have three years’ eligibility, completed 214-of-337 passes (63.5 percent) for 2,949 yards and 23 touchdowns with eight interceptions during his time at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

USM will continue its fall practices next week.

The Golden Eagles will kick-off their season against Jackson State Saturday, September 3 at the Rock.
