Consider This: Your mental health is important
PINE BELT (WDAM) - May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Each year, millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness.
Research shows that one in five Americans are affected by mental health conditions.
When we talk about health, we can't just focus on heart health, or liver health, or brain health, and not whole health. We have to see the whole person and make use of the tools and resources that benefit minds and bodies together.
During the month of May, Mental Health America challenges people to make small changes, both physically and mentally, to create gains for our overall health and well-being.
Studies have shown that mental health can be affected by diet and nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health, and exercise.
To find the right balance in your life and maintain good mental health, follow these tips:
- Value yourself
- Take care of your body
- Surround yourself with good people
- Learn how to deal with stress
- Set realistic goals
- Enjoy an occasional change of pace
- Get help when you need it.
Consider This: Mental health is much more than a diagnosis. It's your overall psychological well-being. It's important to take care of yourself and get the most from life.
