LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Bond has been set for the man charged with murder in the shooting death of the mother of his two children.

Eric House made his initial appearance before a Jones County judge Wednesday morning.

House, 26, is charged with the murder of 24-year-old Davokiee Ann Jackson. His bond was set at $750,000.

Investigators with the Laurel Police Department said Jackson was shot several times outside a home on South 14th Avenue on Monday evening.

A witness to the crime said House shot Jackson several times and then stood over her and fired again after she fell to the ground. She was later pronounced dead at South Central Regional Medical Center.

Family members called Jackson's death a "sad situation."

Family members tell us Jackson and House have two young daughters together, but they were not in a relationship at the time of the shooting. Both girls are under the age of 5, according to family.
