HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A semi-trailer caught fire in the early morning hours of Friday.
According to Joey Collins, Engineer and Fire Investigator for the Hattiesburg Fire Department, the semi-trailer caught fire around 2:57 a.m.
The truck was on the shoulder of the interstate just before the US 98 E Lucedale/Mobile exit.
Collins said units were on scene at 3:08 a.m. and quickly extinguished the fire. By the time units arrived, the tractor had been disconnected from the trailer.
The fire appeared to be mechanical and was caused by a malfunction in the breaking system, according to Collins.
No one was hurt in the fire, and a tow service was called for the trailer.
