BEAUMONT, MS (WDAM) - The 29th annual Mississippi Pecan Festival was a showcase for lots of different types of craftsmen, including a Stone County man who "turns" wooden blocks into useful works of art.
Paul Bravo is a wood turner and he can take up to an hour to make one of his specialty bowls.
Wood turning is a form of woodworking that creates objects using a lathe.
Bravo learned the craft about 15 years ago and he's been a regular at the Pecan Festival for the last six years.
He said he enjoys coming back each year to see old friends.
"Every year since I've come here, I've just enjoyed it, it's a neat location, it's fun," said Bravo. "I see the same people every year. I get a day off of work, I get to "turn" for three days."
The festival, which began Friday, wrapped up Sunday afternoon.
