Man commits suicide moments after traffic accident

JASPER COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Monday traffic accident on Highway 15 in Jasper County Monday night injured one, and resulted in the suicide of another.
Ethan Edward Sullivan, 25, of Soso, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene of the accident, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Spokesperson Warren Strain.
"Sullivan ran into the back of a motorcycle on Highway 15 and then stopped, got out of his truck and shot himself at the scene," said Strain.
Strain added there were witnesses at the scene, other than the motorcycle driver, who sustained non-life threatening life injuries.
According to the initial report from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the motorcycle was apparently having mechanical issues and was slowing down when it was struck from behind by Sullivan in his truck.
According to a family member of the motorcycle driver, he was slowing down to turn on the road he lives on when he was struck from behind.
Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the wreck, and then contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations to work the scene.
"The preliminary autopsy report was consistent with the information from the scene, it showed that Sullivan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound," said Strain.
Strain added the investigation is still ongoing.
