'Officer Bad A**' identified as JCJC campus police officer

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - According to Lumberton Police Chief Elsie Cowart, the officer involved in the shooting, altercation at a Lumberton gas station has been identified.

"Michael Walker who is an officer with Jones County Junior College is who our investigation has led us to," said Chief Cowart. "He called after he saw the story air on WDAM."

Walker was involved in a road rage incident where he fired shots and assaulted a juvenile that cut him off.

Witnesses at the scene said he only identified himself as "Officer Badass."

Earlier this morning Jones County Junior College released a statement regarding a member of their police department.

"JCJC has released a campus police officer of his duties due to an investigation of misconduct effective immediately. The officer in question was released for conduct in an off campus, off duty incident. We have not had any internal conduct issues in relation to the officer. Jones looks to maintain high ethical standards and will always make decisions that support our overall community and campus safety."

Members of the Lumberton Police Department are also working with the juveniles family to determine what charges will be pressed.

"Walker is not in custody at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing, but we have identified him," said Cowart.
