MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A gubernatorial candidate for governor made a stop to speak before a group democrats for a meet and greet in Marion County Tuesday.
Valerie Short, an OBGYN from Jackson spoke to the Marion County Democratic Party about her platform. She spoke about healthcare, education and the things that are important in her campaign before a crowd of about 50 people.
Candidates for local elections also spoke at the event.
"Well my top three issues are probably similar to what many others are talking about, healthcare, education and both of those form the pillars of our economy to a certain extent, along with jobs and infrastructure," said Short. "You know I'm a medical doctor, so I'm really keen on that healthcare and education aspect. My lifestyle is consistent, all about service with health, serving the country with honor, so it really is, I'd say I'm true blue."
Short, a 10 year veteran of the United States Air Force is running on the democratic ticket hoping to secure the party's primary in August.
