HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Over 150 Pine Belt leaders attended an annual Leadership Luncheon hosted by Pine Belt 360 on Monday to help promote education, literacy and eradicate racial prejudice.
Pine Belt 360's Executive Director Van Jones said, "Our future is really bright if we mold and shape it into what we want it to be."
Jones said the main focus of the luncheon is to bring together area leaders to talk about ways they can assist local schools with unnoticed or unmet needs.
"One thing we focus on is literacy with the younger students, and our goal is to push them and challenge them and charge them to keep books in their hands and to be college and career ready," Jones said.
