UPDATE: 1 dead, 1 in custody following Marion County shooting


A woman is dead and her husband is behind bars after a Monday night homicide in Marion County.
Geraldine Manning, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the chest. Jeffrey Manning, 51, the victim's husband, was taken into custody and charged with murder.
Jeffrey was given a million dollar bond during his initial appearance Monday afternoon.
Deputies responded to a shooting at 312 Kokomo Road in Marion County and discovered Geraldine. Jeffrey was taken into custody at the scene.
According to investigators the incident stemmed from what appears to be a domestic situation, resulting in Geraldine being shot in the chest with a high powered hunting rifle.
The victim's body was sent to the Mississippi Medical Examiner for a full autopsy.
According to sheriff's department officials, the investigation is still ongoing.
Jeffrey was booked in to the Marion County Jail where he is currently housed.
