HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The State Auditor's demand that Jones County Circuit Judge Billy Joe Landrum repay the state over $300,000 has not entered into the criminal arena.

The Jones County District Attorney Tony Buckley confirmed that his office has received a summary report from the state auditor's office of its investigation into the judge's use of funds from his Community Services Program.

State Auditor Stacy Pickering said Landrum has not been following state law and owes $313,000 for fuel and vehicle purchases and courtroom security salaries that are not allowed by state law.

Buckley said the summary report points out 14 possible criminal violations involving county vehicles.

Buckley said he plans to get a more detailed report from the auditor's office to see if the potential vehicle violations warrant grand jury action.

A report was also sent to the Judicial Performance Commission.
