HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The latest big adoption event of the summer at the Southern Pines Animal Shelter was held Thursday.
Several area celebrities turned out to have their picture taken in a kennel in hopes they could raise their $500 adoption fee through donations. With the first month of the challenge almost over, the shelter is on track having found homes for nearly 450 animals.
"We're really excited about all the animals we've headed out with new adopters," said Ginny Sims, SPAS manager. "All of then are getting chances through adoptions and transports like our Rescue Wagon through Pet Smart Charities. It's been a really exciting summer so far and we're looking forward to the rest of it."
