This is a news release from MDOT

JONES COUNTY, MISS.— The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announces the following impact to motorists traveling along Interstate 59 in Jones County as part of a $13 million resurfacing project.  Work on the project, which was awarded to Dunn Roadbuilders, LLC. began in March.

Beginning Wednesday, June 25, crews will begin resurfacing the southbound lanes of roadway within the city limits of Laurel between the Chantilly - Highway 84 interchange moving south to the 4th Avenue interchange. Work will then progress north from 4th Avenue to the Chantilly-Highway 84 Interchange.

The resurfacing operation is scheduled to take 7 to 10 days to complete; motorists will encounter lane closures during this time.  The interstate is being treated with a surface to improve driver visibility and traction during wet conditions.  Work will also include repairing some drainage structures throughout the project.

Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
