WDAM Viewpoint- Concussion Bill

We applaud the state House and Senate for passing Bill 48 which requires both public and private schools to properly evaluate a student athlete for a concussion before returning them to practice or to competition. Governor Phil Bryant has signed the bill and it will become law on July 1 of this year.
The law will ban a player with a concussion from play until fully recovered. Seems like common sense to me, however Mississippi was the last state to pass a youth concussion law. It is good to see that the health and welfare of our children has won out.
