JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - UPDATE: MDOT says this accident has been cleared.  All lanes are now open.

A semi-trailer truck overturned on I-59 Thursday afternoon, forcing northbound traffic to be diverted onto US 11 at Exit 93.

The incident happened shortly after 1:00pm in the northbound lane of I-59 at Exit 95B.  The trailer spilled its load of construction debris mostly on the inside lane of the interstate. Road crews are currently working to clean the stretch of interstate as quickly as possible.

Local officials on the scene believe the speed of the vehicle may have been a contributing factor to the accident. MDOT is describing the accident as having a "high" traffic impact.  At one point the southbound traffic was down to one lane near the scene of the accident. As of 2:30pm all northbound lanes were closed.

There were no serious injuries from the accident, the driver of the truck refused to go to the hospital.

MDOT says it will take about 2 hours to clean-up the scene.
