HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Two Hattiesburg police officers have been terminated from the department and a third suspended following a series of internal administrative hearings on two separate incidents of misconduct.
Police Chief Frazier Bolton confirms two officers one with the NET, or Neighborhood Enhancement Team, and the other with the STRIKE, a crime suppression unit, were terminated Monday for use of excessive force in subduing a suspect last month.
A third officer was suspended for 20 days for discharging his firearm into the air following an altercation at a private party in Petal.
Frazier would not release the names of the officers involved. The two terminated officers have 10 days to file an appeal.
