Trey Mongrue

Sports Director

Jackson, MS

Trey Mongrue is a Baton Rouge, LA native. He joined WLBT/WDBD in August of 2019 as sports director.

A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and Catholic High School, Trey began his journalism career at 18-years-old as a beat writer for LSU and high school sports. He has covered multiple College World Series, a (now-defunct) BCS National Championship Game and everything in between.

After multiple years of working in print, television, and radio, Trey made the jump to broadcast news full-time in 2015 as the weekend sports anchor at the NBC-affiliate in Monroe, LA. From there, he moved over to the gray station in Alexandria, LA as sports director.

When not at the station, chances are that you will find Trey on a golf course or soccer field somewhere. A sports fan from birth, he supports the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, and the United States Soccer Team. He also likes to attempt cooking from time to time.

Trey is excited to become a part of the Jackson community. Feel free to chat if you see him out in the area
