Mia Monet was born and raised in the Crescent City, New Orleans, LA. Growing up as a child she spent every morning watching the news with her mom while they got ready for school and work.

It was how she discovered her love for telling and writing compelling and creative news stories.

She attended high school at Sophie B. Wright Charter, in the uptown neighborhood of New Orleans. While there she was voted homecoming queen in 2015 and student body vice president.

She continued her education at Tuskegee University, a top 10 ranked HBCU in the nation.

During her four years at Tuskegee University she was a very active student, participating in various clubs and activities. She was a campus reporter, event host and chief of staff for the campus media team ’TLOS’.

She graduated from Tuskegee University in May 2020, with a degree in communications.

Prior to joining the WDAM news team, she tested the waters in television production.

During the fall of 2020, she worked on the set of a Walt Disney Production “Queen of the South, Season 5”.

Mia is excited to be here in The Hub City and tell as many impactful stories as possible while getting to know the community.

Her favorite part about our location is the easy drive home. She’s able to go spend time with her family and friends during her off time.
