JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - Two people were seriously injured during a two-vehicle crash that happened in Jones County Monday morning.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported to county 911 dispatchers around 6:42 a.m.

A Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by 22-year-old Amanda Dickens, of Ellisville, collided head-on with a Ford Focus, driven by 18-year-old Kenneth Worbington, of Petal, near Augusta Road.

JCSD says Dickens was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated from it by volunteer firefighters from Ovett Fire & Rescue and Johnson Fire & Rescue. Worbington was able to exit from his vehicle.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.

EMServ Ambulance Service also responded to the crash.
