BASSFIELD, Miss. (WDAM) - Bassfield city officials want you to speak out this weekend about issues like domestic violence and sexual assault.

Mayor Angela Ladner is hosting a “Use Your Voice Community Listening Session” Saturday to focus on those topics and other issues affecting local families.

It will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the fellowship hall of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Representatives from groups like the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Shafer Center for Crisis Intervention will also be there.

“I think there are so many times that people are scared or afraid or feel like there’s no one to help or no one to listen, there’s always someone to listen, always, Ladner said. “I want to meet everyone’s needs. It’s not just a group of people, I want to hear what everyone has to say.”

Another community listening session is set for April 9.
