HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Southern Miss continues to grind this spring in preparation for April 2nd’s spring game.

Coach Will Hall really likes the Golden Eagles’ depth this season - especially at linebacker.

Santrell Latham returns for his sixth year in Hattiesburg as the wiley veteran. The linebacker was a ballhawk last season, leading USM with three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

“I think what Santrell will tell you is again, there’s another situation where at linebacker we have a lot of returning talent and then you bring a guy like Daylen Gill into the room,” Hall said. “So man, you got Hayes Maples, Swayze Bozeman, Santrell Latham, T.Q. Newsome.”

“It creates competition and the room’s already good with those additions and stuff like that,” Latham said. “The room’s going to be even better man, I’m excited to see what’s going to go on. It makes us so much of a better team. You got guys being able to get the adequate amount of reps he can get and he can go back out and give us full energy next play.”
