Nobles beats incumbent Moore to win Petal’s Ward 3 alderman seat

PETAL, Miss. (WDAM) - Petal’s Ward 3 will have new representation when the next board of aldermen is sworn into office later this year.

The Ward 3 incumbent, Clint Moore, lost in a runoff to Blake Nobles on Tuesday.

“I’m planning on making sure that (Ward 3 residents) hold me accountable and making sure that we do a lot of good work,” said Nobles.

Both candidates were Republicans. Because there are no Democratic or Independent candidates running in the general election, Nobles will be the next Ward 3 alderman.

Nobles says one of the first things he’d like to do after taking office is address old or out-dated city ordinances.

“We’re hoping we can go through the ordinances and try and clear up some of the old ones, the ones that don’t need to be there anymore or are convoluted hoping we can get that, hit the ground running first on that.”

Moore also commented about the results of Tuesday’s election.

“Ward 3 is in great hands with Blake! He knows what the people need and will work hard for us. I feel Petal is a little better than when I took office 7 years ago, so I am happy and honored to have had the privilege to serve.”

The term of office for Nobles and other municipal elected officials begins July 1.
