MEMA releases 1st damage report from April storms

PEARL, Miss. (WDAM) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is responding to severe weather that impacted the state on April 23-24, 2021.

During this event, many Mississippians experienced multiple waves of active weather resulting in damaging wind, flooding and tornadoes.

One storm-related fatality in Pearl River County and two injuries, one each in George and Stone counties, have been reported to MEMA.

During the severe weather, swift-water rescues took place in Wilkinson County without incident.

At this time, there have been no resource requests made to the state.

The following counties have reported damage to MEMA:

  • George -one home
  • Perry – one home
  • Stone- three homes
  • Wilkinson – 21 homes, one public building.
