MSDH reports daily COVID-19 cases Mississippi at 360

JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reported the daily COVID-19 count at less than 400 cases.

MSDH reported 360 new COVID-19 cases and three additional deaths Friday statewide

The deaths were reported between Feb. 11-17.

The latest figures brought the state’s total cases and deaths since March 2020 to 289,892 and 6,534.

Positive test results may have been made during the past several days and represent individuals who became ill a week ago or more.

In the eight Pine Belt counties, 31,168 COVID-19 cases and 623 deaths have been reported:

  • Covington: 2,450 cases, 76 deaths
  • Forrest: 6,971 cases, 135 deaths
  • Jasper: 2,091 cases, 42 deaths
  • Jones: 7,772 cases, 142 deaths
  • Lamar: 5,731 cases, 77 deaths
  • Marion: 2,490 cases, 78 deaths
  • Perry: 1,171 cases, 33 deaths
  • Wayne: 2,492 cases, 40 deaths

MSDH also is reporting 264,456 Mississippians are presumed to have recovered from the coronavirus.

Health officials said patients must have symptoms of COVID-19, which include a fever of 100.4 and severe cough or chest pain, to be tested. Anyone wanting to be tested should call ahead to make arrangements first.

To date, 2,365,065 people have been tested for coronavirus in Mississippi.
