HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Arts Council held its Emerging Artists and High School Loft exhibit Saturday.
The exhibit was to bring artists in the community together. It was made possible through local sponsors like Odd Fellows Gallery and William Carey University.
“Art is a personal thing, so some people do their art and they say they’re not good. Of course, it’s good. It’s who you are, and you’re good,” says Jacqueline Wooton President of the Hattiesburg Arts Council.
“ It’s important to express your feelings in art, to inspire other people, especially figurative artists,” says Jonathan Sims, a local artist.
“So many artists who are just beginning, there’s no end of talent in Hattiesburg. So we are surrounded by culture,” said another local artist, Martina Sciolino.
The event was held at the Hattiesburg Cultural Center from 3-5 p.m.
