LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - Jennie Hensarling won the District E seat of the Lamar County School Board in Tuesday night’s general election.

“I am so thankful for people that put their trust in me and just their vote in me quite literally,” Hensarling said.

Voters in Lamar County chose Hensarling by a 68% vote over Brady Raane’s 32% vote.

“They think that I can represent our district in the way that they want. So, now moving forward, I just want to be the voice for Lamar County,” Hensarling said.

Hensarling said she’s worked throughout the district for more than a decade, and now she’s excited she can do even more.

“To be the voice for teachers and parents and administrators, and just help with the communication that we can have between the board and those parents and those teachers that are boots on the ground," Hensarling said. “So that we can work together and have the most seamless and effective education for our children. So, they can stay on the top and they can be all that they are meant to be.”

Hensarling will officially take office in January.
