HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Anthony Dillon is not used to not coaching.
“For the last 15 years of my life on Friday nights at 7:00 I’ve been roaming up and down the sidelines, either as a defensive coordinator or head coach,” Dillon said.
He won’t be afforded that opportunity in 2020 as North Forrest High School cancelled the varsity football season on Monday in light of COVID-19 concerns and “unforeseen circumstances.”
Dillon had 15 Eagles on his roster this year including four seniors. The team plans to continue working out and conditioning this fall.
“I always tell my kids, one day in life football is going to come to an end,” Dillon said. “Don’t let football define you, you define football. I told them to just keep their head high. All the goals you still have set can still be obtained. You just have to work a little harder.”
North Forrest had an eight game schedule for 2020 which included Region 8-2A games against local schools Collins, East Marion and Perry Central.
