PURVIS, Miss. (WDAM) - Lamar Christian was off to its best start, 5-1, before the season came to a sudden stop.
Head coach Drew Mattison sends off two seniors - Luke Bilbo and Wyatt Miller. Bilbo batted .267 while Miller was hitting .300 through six games.
A couple of outstanding runners and students leave Lamar Christian for bigger and better things.
Sean Kittler’s time on the track and cross country teams was split between his time with the Beta Club, Debate Team and school band. He intends on going to Jones College and eventually Mississippi State to study engineering.
Kyla Rowell was named the Lady Lions’ most outstanding varsity runner two years in a row in addition to being active in student council, Beta Club, Debate Team and First Priority Leadership Team.
She heads to Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky on a cross country scholarship. Rowell plans to major in intercultural studies and hopes to become a missionary and youth pastor after graduation.
