WAYNESBORO, Miss. (WDAM) - Camryn Miller and Emily Rigney are a part of a Wayne County senior class that has won over 200 softball games, eight division titles and five South State championships.
The pair of Mississippi Association of Coaches’ All-Star selections signed scholarships on Thursday to continue their winning ways at the next level.
Miller is headed to Mississippi Gulf Coast as a catcher and Rigney inked with Pearl River Community College.
"I'm very excited to be going down there,” said Rigney, who batted .367 and played outfield last season. “As soon as I stepped on the campus and went to all the camps it just felt like a very homey environment and I love the girls there. The coaching staff, I feel like they're going to push me to do my best and that's what I'm really excited for."
"I'm very excited,” said Miller, who batted .392 last season. “I feel like they have really nice facilities and the coaches and players are very welcoming. It just feels like home there."
The dynamic duo were joined by Jalen Ayers, who signed a baseball scholarship with East Central Community College.
The senior outfielder batted .341 with eight doubles and 21 runs scored last season.
“East Central is a very great program, academic school and I like the coaching staff,” Ayers said. “And I just want to go down there and win.”
