Victim, persons of interest identified in Simpson County homicide

SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - Simpson County Sheriff’s Department identified the man shot and killed this weekend.

Deputies are investigating the homicide that happened near midnight Sunday morning.

Investigators said a man was shot and killed at a party in the area of R T Lake Road and Emmett Brown Road in Mendenhall.

Interim Sheriff Greg Reynolds later identified the victim as Willie Davis.

Investigators believe an argument led to the shooting. Reynolds said Davis left the party and got into his vehicle when several people approached him, severely beating and shooting him.

Davis was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Two persons of interest have been identified as Ruben Mayes and his wife Amanda Warren. If you know where these two may be, call Simpson County Sheriff’s Department at 601-847-2921 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.
