HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Officials are investigating the cause of a building fire in Hattiesburg on Sunday evening.
Fire crews with the Hattiesburg Fire Department were on the scene of the vacant apartment on the 100 block of South Street.
According to officials, a neighbor near the building saw smoke coming out of the roof and called 911, but the building first caught on fire around 4:15 a.m.
Fire personnel said the entire front of the structure was damaged by the smoke.
Officials believe that the roof fire was revived from the previous fire that morning.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
