HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The University of Southern Mississippi baseball team dropped its series finale against Rice University on Sunday in Houston.
Rice clinched the series with a 7-2 win Sunday afternoon.
Rice starting pitcher Jackson Parthasarthy earned the win by striking out five and allowing only one earned run over 6.1 innings.
Southern Miss’ Jarod Wright was credited with the loss after allowing four earned runs in two-thirds of an inning.
USM dropped to 32-17 on the year and 19-8 in Conference USA play.
