HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Jalen Richard played four years of football at the University of Southern Mississippi, racking up more than 2,000 yards on the ground.
After receiving his degree in psychology in 2016, Richard went to NFL minicamp and was off and running, but he never had a chance to walk at his graduation.
Richard made up for lost time Friday. The Oakland Raiders running back received his diploma from Southern Miss President Dr. Rodney Bennett in front of family and a packed Reed-Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg.
It all started with a tweet at Bennett in December.
It ended with Richard fulfilling a dream.
Richard is about to enter his fourth season with the Raiders after re-signing back in April.
The Southern Miss grad was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2016.
