LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) - Lumberton city officials appointed a familiar name as the new police chief during a Tuesday night meeting.
Adam Jones was named chief of the Lumberton Police Department after serving as interim chief since March. Jones said the Board of Aldermen and Mayor Quincy Rogers made the unanimous decision during an executive session at Lumberton City Hall.
“It’s an honor to lead the people,” Jones said. “I’ve always been a leader. From high school to the armed forces and even as a patrolman, I’ve strived to lead others. While in Lumberton, I will do the best job I can do to bring more stability to the city and the citizens.”
Jones will take the oath of office at a later date.
Rogers confirmed the decision Wednesday.
