LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Laurel police have identified the young boy killed in a tragic accident Monday night.
Police Chief Tommy Cox said 7-year-old Princeton Moody died after being hit by a car near Laurel High School. Members of the community said the child was participating in track activities around the time of the tragedy.
Friends and family continue to mourn the loss of young Princeton. Members of the community set up a small memorial near the high school in remembrance of Princeton.
The Laurel School District issued a statement after the tragedy, saying Princeton was a first grader at Nora Davis Magnet School. The school district offered counseling support to help students deal with the untimely death of their classmate.
