JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Amazon recently announced the top 10 states with the fastest-growing small and medium-sized businesses that are selling in Amazon’s stores, and Mississippi topped the list. The annual report examined yearly sales growth of businesses selling in Amazon’s stores across all 50 states.
Amazon said that in total, there are more than 1.9 million businesses, content creators and developers in the United States using their products and services, up from 30 percent a decade ago.
More than 50,000 small and medium businesses last year topped $500,000 in sales at its stores worldwide, and nearly 200,000 SMBs pulled in $100,000. More than 25,000 SMBs surpassed $1 million in sales last year.

- North Dakota
SMBs in Maine, Nebraska, and Mississippi saw the fastest growing sales in Amazon’s stores in 2018.
Amazon announced in December it was opening a consumer goods fulfillment center in Marshall County, creating 850 jobs over three years. According to John Felton, vice president of Global Customer Fulfillment, Amazon will pay the workers $15 an hour.
