HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss took down the Conference USA’s No. 2 team Louisiana Tech on Saturday, reaching the 30-win mark for the first time since 2016.
The Lady Eagles (30-19, 12-9 C-USA) used a three-run fourth inning to grab a 5-3 win over the Lady Techsters (39-14, 17-5 C-USA).
Oak Grove grad Samantha Papp lined a single to left, bringing home Petal native Sarah Van Schaik to tie the game at 3-3. Karley Nichols’ grounder a few moments later scored Stringer native Madison Rayner for the go-ahead run.
USM hosts Louisiana Tech on “Senior Day” Sunday in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
