Thunderbirds take to the skies Friday ahead of weekend show

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - South Mississippi is getting a preview of what’s to come during this weekend’s Thunder Over the Sound.

The skies will be roaring as the USAF Thunderbirds and other aerial acts fly over Biloxi throughout the day Friday, rehearsing for the airshow. According to the City of Biloxi, the Thunderbirds are set to fly over Biloxi at 10:30 a.m. and again at 2 p.m.

Other acts performing this weekend will also practice Friday. Some of the acts that are slated to show off their aerobatics during Thunder Over the Sound include Team Aeroshell, Trojan Thunder, the Alabama Boys, and more. The airshow is taking place on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5. This is the first year that Keesler Air Force Base has partnered with the City of Biloxi to offer visitors multiple viewing locations.

Visitors can watch from the flightline entrance on Keesler Air Force Base to see the military precision jets soar over Biloxi’s Back Bay. At 1 p.m., the performances will move to Biloxi Beach for more aerial acrobatics.
