HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - About a dozen motorcycles left the Hub City Friday morning on a first-ever fundraising ride to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

Members of the Ruff Ryders Motorcycle Club rolled out of Hattiesburg Cycles at 10:30 a.m. as part of the “Cruisin’ for St. Jude” ride.

They were joined by other Ruff Ryder chapters along the way.

“Everybody knows someone that’s been affected by cancer and this hospital just does a tremendous job,” said Calvin Russell, national board president for the Ruff Ryders.

“We’ve been waiting on this event to happen, we’ve been wanting to do something like this, a lot of kids suffer from cancer,” said Sheila Sandifer, president of the Hattiesburg chapter of Ruff Ryders.

The Hattiesburg chapter donated $2,100 to the hospital.
