HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg native was recently awarded a national scholarship for their professional development.
Stacy Ahua, who also serves as the director of Volunteer Southeast Mississippi at United Way, was recently selected as the recipient of the national 2019 Jill Friedman Fixler Professional Development Scholarship Award.
This scholarship recognizes one outstanding volunteer manager or leader from around the nation for their commitment to volunteerism and service in their community, as well as their potential to learn from, share with and be inspired by leaders in the volunteer and service field.
Ahua will represent the city of Hattiesburg as the first recipient of the scholarship and annual award winner from the southern region. She will also be the first Mississippian recipient at the Points of Light conference, which will take place in St. Paul, Minnesota in June.
