HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - City of Hattiesburg trucks will begin spraying for mosquitoes this week.
The goal is to control and reduce the number of mosquitoes that can spread viruses. Each ward has been assigned a truck and crew and spraying will take place daily between the hours of 3:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., according to a Hattiesburg news release.
The City said spraying is done with the guidance of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. The trucks will be dispensing small amounts of Biomist Adulticide (Permethrin mix), which is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency as a solvent for mosquito control products.
Spraying will continue as long as temperatures are sustained at 60 degrees.
