COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - A major sewer project is underway in downtown Columbia.
About 170 feet of sewer line is being replaced on Main Street next to the county courthouse.
It’s a $138,000 project that began last week.
Mayor Justin McKenzie says other work will be done in the near future.
“The sewer line is considered structurally sound, but it may have a crack or something in the bell or the collar, so, what we’ll do is we’ll go through and line the entire sewer line and once that lining sets up, that is like having a new line in the ground,” McKenzie said.
He says the project should be finished the first week of May.
