HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Laurel man charged with the murder of a Hattiesburg mother was denied bond on Friday.

Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Ryan Moore said 32-year-old Demarcus McGruder was charged with capital murder Wednesday in the death of 25-year-old Falisa Carter, who went missing on Nov. 25, 2018. Carter’s remains were found in a wooded area of Forrest County on April 4.

McGruder, Carter’s former boyfriend, was previously arrested on Dec. 4 and charged with kidnapping in Carter’s disappearance. He remains in the Forrest County Jail without bond.

A second suspect, 29-year-old Timothy Evans, was arrested in late December and charged with hindering prosecution. Evans was arrested a second time on March 1 and charged with accessory after the fact to kidnapping.
