MDEQ issues water contact advisory near Taylorsville
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has issued a water contact advisory for several streams near Taylorsville.

TAYLORSVILLE, MS (WDAM) - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has issued a water contact advisory for several streams near Taylorsville.

MDEQ officials said the advisory has been put in place because of sewage entering the water as the city works to repair a sewer line.

The water contact advisory is in effect for a tributary of Lyon Creek where it crosses Pine Street to the confluence of Lyon Creek with the Leaf River. People should avoid coming into contact with the water or eating fish out of those waters until MDEQ gives the all clear.
